During our prayer time in our women’s ministry meeting tonight, Angela had us reflect on things we could give thanks to God for and I realized that it had been while since I had made a list of the many things to be thankful for. As in, I couldn’t even remember the last time I had done so.
- Praise songs reminding me of the character of the Almighty God
- All the wisdom and guidance that comes from His word
- We were safe from the San Diego Firestorm
- How quickly and willingly Longford, Diane House, and House 52 were to open up their homes.
- No matter the outcome, no matter what uncertainties exist, we know how this story is going to end – in God reigning over all
- The little things that my roommates do…especially in sharing meals, the little emails, including me in their lives, having a laugh together, etc.
- All the fun people in choir
- “I Know You’re There” by Casting Crowns and other songs that are making up the soundtrack of my life right now
- The time and care that Carol puts into our times of discipleship…and I am SUPER thankful that she really makes the effort to challenge me when my answers border on superficial.
- Getting to know more of the ladies in LBC Singlelife
- My old small group – I miss them…but am so thankful for the bond that we have in Christ that persists
- My new small group – glad to walk with them through this year.
- Several opportunities to serve the church… with graphic design, being able to serve the ladies with my limited guitar skills
- The meeting times our women’s ministry servants has gotten to share what they were learning
- The humility of various leaders
- Good reads – The Beauty of Holiness, Disciplines of a Godly Woman and I would be embarrassed to admit that I’m reading a book called “Did I Kiss Marriage Goodbye?” except for the fact that its’ been so humbling and challenging to get through
- The DTR series at church that has continued to challenge my thinking
- Humble apologies – this is hard to do!
- My roommates’ creativity and support
- Continually growing friendship with co-workers
- How God has grown and challenged my brother – Happy birthday Chris!
- Having a chance to have a hearty talk with him, and the opportunity to challenge my sister
- Ultimately, and always, their lives are in God’s hands – and I can rest in this fact instead of being arrested in constant anxiousness
- All the times I get to hangout with my best buddies
- Sisters that trust me and that I can share with honestly…knowing that they will remind me of the areas of sin that I am trying to overcome
- Learning and hashing out what contentment looks like with Carol
- Walking into the room and having her ask my why I look so content…
- and being able to to tell her that its really just because of joy in the Lord
- Gosh, just peace….having peace…because my heavenly father is in control of everything
