24 Lessons Learned in the past year:

1. God preserves his saints…through sin, through the storms of life – our sanctification is a work that He is dedicated to.
2. Obedience to God and His world is a choice that we are responsible for.
3. God cares IMMENSELY about our obedience – this is not an issue of faith by works. This is an issue of showing that our lives have been changed by the death of Christ paying for our sin and that He has redeemed our lives.
4. Obedience is proof of salvation. Thank you Carol, for your patient teaching in getting that truth through my head.
5. Hope in God’s word… meditating on scripture (via memory verses) does effect the way you live!
6. Jook with yams, pork sung and 1000 year old egg is actually pretty good.
7. Testimony = faithfully speaking the truth of the gospel AND living in a way that reflects the beauty and love of Christ. Loving people is crucial.
8. Keep a watchful eye on your hobbies and natural talents – do not let it become all you’re interested in because eventually it steals away all your affection.
9. Difficult circumstances are not an excuse to sin – on the contrary those are the best times to practice living out the truth of a heart changed by the Holy Spirit
10. God provides everything at the perfect time.
11. We can only forgive and reconcile our relationships with one another because of Christ. We could never do it on our own. But that means that because Christ has made it possible, we have no excuse to NOT forgive and reconcile.
12. My mom is a very long suffering woman. I hope that one day I can love people who have rejected me in a way more like her {which ultimately points me back to the love of Christ.}
13. Silence is ok. And alone time is necessary.
14. God WILL humble the proud {Dinos vs. Muscular Youth in ultimate frisbee did NOT go the way we thought it would.}
15. You don’t have anything to prove on the football field…and even when you think you are doing REALLY well, most likely there’s a ref on the sideline who can tell you all the penalties he should be calling on you at THAT moment.
16. Collegian girls are REALLY easy to love. And they are so willing to love those who come into their lives.
17. Age doesn’t really mean much in friendship. I never thought that someone who was 6 years younger than me would be such a dear sister.
18. Friends come and friends go. Don’t cling more tightly to those friendships than you do to the promises of God but love them because you want to serve them. Even if two people are believers, its possible for a friendship to not be based on a common bond in Christ. That is something you have to be intentional about.
19. The Lord has taken a lot of care and time to teach me many lessons over the years and it is a blessing to share them with younger sisters. But the most important thing, no matter what the topic is to point them back to Christ.
20. Living with Joyce has helped me make better fitness and nutrition choices. But its not just about health…I learned the choices you make now, WILL effect who you are in the future. The things you allow your heart to take in will effect it later. The sins that you let go unchecked WILL affect you later on down the line….even to the extent that it effects your children.
21. I actually like cauliflower…when its roasted with garlic and parmesean chees but this is the first time I have ever enjoyed eating it.
22. Doing ministry in the context of the local church is what I want to spend my life on.
23. Character matters. It really, really matters. The process of developing it is ardous but to know that it pleases the Lord is enough motivation.
24. This one technically happened when I was ::gulp:: 25, but you can still be surprised after many years of ruining surprises.
